What is a pallet salad garden ?
If you Google “pallet salad garden,” you’ll find a plethora of inventive designs that use repurposed pallets to make planter pockets. Though they can look very pretty, my pallet garden is somewhat different.
My garden uses discarded wooden pallets, reconstructed and fastened together to create a base platform for lightweight planter boxes made out of polystyrene foam.
This arrangement helps keep your edible plants out of reach of common garden predators like slugs, snails, and even rabbits while allowing you to easily tend to your plants at waist height without straining your knees or back.
The foam boxes are made from polystyrene used in the food industry to package and transport fresh fish. They’re food safe and great alternative to traditional wooden or plastic planter boxes and you can get them for free.
