Tomatoes Unknown!

Today I picked these three beautiful ripe tomatoes and all unknown varieties.

These are what I refer to as “volunteer tomatoes” which are self-seeded tomatoes appearing spontaneously when conditions are just right for germination.

They appeared in the spring after I added a top layer of fresh homemade compost in my fish box containers.

This year I decided not to start any tomatoes from seeds myself and just let nature do it for me and it worked!

It’s a lot less work and all you have to do is keep the strongest plants growing just where you want them and removing the rest.

You can find out more about how you can grow these types of tomatoes here.

At the moment, I’ve got nine tomato plants which is more than enough for two persons.
